May Is Correct Posture Month
Given that May is correct posture month, what an excellent time to visit our office for a postural tune up! Correct posture is extremely important for spinal health. Incorrect posture stresses the structures of the neck and back leading to early muscle fatigue and those nasty aches and pains. Overtime, incorrect posture can lead to chronic pain and stiffness resulting in irreversible damage to the neck and back. People who tend to sit, type, perform repetitive tasks and frequently lift objects are most susceptible. Call our office today and schedule an appointment for a postural evaluation!

Chiropractic Care For Insomnia?
New research indicates chiropractic care could be beneficial for those suffering from insomnia. While participating chiropractors in this study were guarded in their expectations for chiropractics ability to benefit those suffering from insomnia, 1 out of 3 subjects interviewed reported their sleep pattern was changed for the better immediately after their chiropractic treatment. While much future research is needed to validate these findings, it is important to recognize the many health benefits associated with chiropractic care.

Fatty Acid Supplementation Successful In Child Behavioral/Cognitive Problems
UK researchers have found fatty acid supplementation successful in treating children with educational and behavioral problems. Their findings indicate supplementing children’s diets with omega-3 fatty acids leads to significant improvements in their reading, spelling and behavior. Additionally, symptoms consistent with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder were also remarkably reduced. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for brain development and function and are often lacking from modern diets in developed countries.

Back Pain – A Lingering Problem
In a recent study evaluating acute (less than 3 weeks duration) low back pain in patients seeking care for the first time, after 3 months 24 percent of patients had still not fully recovered. It should be noted that these patients did not seek chiropractic care, which is why, in our opinion, their recovery rate was so poor. However, we hope this relatively high number highlights the importance of not allowing initial signs of back pain, even in the first time sufferer, to go untreated. Remember, chiropractors are masters at providing effective care for most back and associated spinal problems.
