Manipulation Under Anesthesia for Low Back Pain
Researchers compared traditional chiropractic manipulation (a chiropractic maneuver) to chiropractic manipulation under anesthesia in 87 individuals suffering chronic low back pain. The individuals completed 2 separate pain score tests 4 weeks later. While both groups experienced significant improvement, overall those receiving chiropractic manipulation under anesthesia experienced better results. While additional studies are needed, these findings suggest chiropractic manipulation under anesthesia may be beneficial to certain patients suffering from chronic low back pain.

Chiropractors Included in National Health Service Corps Program
On October 26 President Bush signed the Health Care Safety Net Improvement Act into law. This will allow, under certain circumstances, chiropractors engaged in the delivery of primary care services to be reimbursed for student loans in return for establishing and maintaining their practices in geographic areas designated as "medically underserved" by the federal government. We would like to thank the American Chiropractic Association and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges for their lobbying efforts.
