3 Time Tour de France Winner is a Chiropractic Patient
Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, utilizes chiropractic care to assist him in successfully coping with his strenuous training regimen. Thus far, he has won the coveted Tour de France an incredible three times. Even more astonishing, he is a survivor of testicular cancer. The key to his success is balancing his tough training with ample recovery time. Immediately after a Tour stage, he'll get fluids and amino acids to begin muscle repair, take a shower, get a massage and then have chiropractic adjustments.

Chiropractors Issue Warning About Gardening Injuries
Gardening may send you to the office of your local doctor of chiropractic if you aren’t careful. Improperly using lawn equipment, such as leaf blowers and lawn mowers, can result in back and neck pain, as well as more serious muscular strains and tears. To help ensure a safe and productive day in the yard utilize the following tips:
- Use equipment straps by placing it over the shoulder on the opposite side of your body from the device,
- Switch the side on which you are operating the equipment as often as possible,
- Take regular breaks from the activity of the day,
- When picking up or putting down your equipment, be sure to bend from the knees, not at the waist.
Be sure to include a warm-up/cool-down period that involves stretching to help avoid injury.

Chiropractors Conduct Study on Major Cause of Fibromyalgia
Two chiropractors announced at medical conferences in France that 90 percent of fibromyalgia patients have underlying thyroid disease. The link to thyroid disease was revealed during laboratory and clinical studies spanning a 10-year period. The studies mainly involved multidisciplinary researchers with the Fibromyalgia Research Foundation in Tulsa, OK; Baylor Medical School and the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston; and the Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal in Toulon, France. Studies conducted by the researchers included extensive laboratory testing of the thyroid gland, pituitary gland, and hypothalamus of fibromyalgia patients. In addition, fibromyalgia patients underwent thyroid hormone, other metabolic therapies, and chiropractic treatment. Fibromyalgia is the most common condition of chronic, widespread pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbance.

Study Results Have Important Implications for the Chiropractic Profession
A comprehensive study from Abt Associates of Cambridge, MA, convened two expert panels—one interdisciplinary (consisting primarily of allopathic physicians) and the other of chiropractors. Both panels concluded that with respect to a list of 53 primary care functions found to occur daily in medical offices, chiropractors are capable of making diagnoses in 92% of these activities and making therapeutic contributions in more than 50% of them. The study confirms other recent findings that between 60-90% of diagnoses seen in outpatient primary care settings can be handled by certain alternative providers.
